We are doing great!

I have had so many great comments on the progress of Virgil’s Corner I am completely blown away. The roof is on and the plumbers are plumbing and the electricians are electrifying. Next week the dry wall will be going up. The rooms are taking shape. Even the gift shop/museum is going to be awesome. The wood I rescued from the original 1880’s house will be incorporated on the interior. Also, the posts will be used as well as some doors in the replica. Keep your eye on this blog for further updates.

Second Month progress

It is hard to believe Virgil’s construction project started two months ago. The guys at Giles Construction are so helpful especially Lloyd. My internet connection has not been good since my receiver was torched but some wonderful fans have been writing encouraging emails. Jim Petersen has sent me so much stuff I will have to catalog it. He has sent me little snippets from the various newspaper of Tombstone’s past. I plan to incorporate them into a calender to explain the history of Virgil’s time in Tombstone. I have also heard from Gary McLelland of the Old West History Net. He has maps and photos that will invaluable to keeping the memory of Virgil Earp alive and well. Thanks also goes out to Danni Elridge for considering Virgil as the hero of Tombstone.
Here is what the structure looked like this week.

Meeting of the Minds

We went over the plans to make any revisions and corrections before pouring the foundation. The building inspector was supposed to be here but he did not show up.

The Super Superintendent and the Designing Woman

Lloyd is so helpful he saved the 450 lb. concrete block that featured my late Mother-In-Law’s hand prints and signature. Lloyd took it home for safe keeping.

Lloyd loaded this piece of concrete using a pully and ramp device.

August 17, 2010 Update

The plumbers are digging and laying pipe. The photos shows the progress. You really have to use your imagination at this stage. Tomorrow the architect and Giles will inspect the property and make assessments based on their expert opinions.

Almost the first month

Can you dig it? These guys are doing all the good. Thanks to my new friend, Jim, a correction of the date of Morgan Earp’s death needs to be made. Jim informs me that Morgan was shot and died in March not April. I really appreciate any information about the time the Earps were in Tombstone.Natalie says the cattle truck is not included in the construction.

Pictured are the unique custom headboards for Virgil’s Corner B & B. They will be accented by the quilts that I am preparing. In Suite #1 there will be a queen sized bed especially for handicap accessibility. In Suite #2 and #3 there will be matching queen sized beds. In Suite #4 there will be a king sized bed.
